JERRIT BURGESS

Jerrit Burgess was named President and CEO at the beginning of 2020. Jerrit has been working at the company for over 25 years and has extensive knowledge about the scrap metal recycling industry. He has grown the company exponentially, tripling our number of locations as well as shredders – our newest shredder is scheduled to go online in 2023 in Oklahoma City, OK.

CHASITIE WALDEN

Chasitie Walden graduated from the University of Kansas Law and handles legal aspects for the company as well as recruiting key personnel to enhance the expertise and growth of the company. She is heavily involved in giving back to the community through several local charities.

KEITH A. RHODES

Keith Rhodes joined the SMI Executive Team in 2021 and has been an integral addition to the team. Keith graduated with honors from the University of Illinois in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy. Upon graduation he received his CPA license and worked for a variety of businesses while working at Price Waterhouse Coopers.

Since his time at PWC, Keith has been a C-level Executive providing proven strategic leadership with a broad range of competencies in a variety of industries advising private business owners and private equity owned organizations on a variety of business matters including transformations, turnarounds, acquisitions, start-ups, debt and equity financings, management issues and the sale of their businesses. His career includes 15+ years of experience leading and operating integrated multi-yard regional scrap metal recycling companies and successfully completing nearly 20 acquisitions within the industry.

In addition to overseeing the company’s financial matters, Keith is also responsible for acquisitions, corporate administration, financial planning and analysis, human resources, information systems, legal matters, risk management, strategic planning and treasury as well as other special projects. Keith’s goal for Scrap Management Industries is to continue the success achieved during the first 50 years of business by building a foundation for both organic and acquisitive growth in the future.

JOEL ERLICHMAN

Joel Erlichman has been Scrap Management Industries’ Vice President of Non-Ferrous Metals since November of 2022. Originally from Peoria, Joel attended Bradley University, where he simultaneously studied accounting and data systems, while running the family scrap business and partnering in a startup software company. Though he’s only been with our company for a short time, Joel has excelled in helping to expand our available markets, update and integrate the company’s data systems and has become a valuable member of the Executive Team.

With 30+ years of experience of multi-yard regional scrap, recycling and software companies, and 20+ years as Vice-President for a number of large industry powerhouses, Joel’s role with Scrap Management Industries has grown and helped him to become a valuable asset to our company. He is constantly looking to improve our processes. In addition to our Inventory Position Management, Joel focuses on our Consumer Market Development, IT Integration and Business Intelligence and Operational Efficiencies and Metrics.

Joel’s primary knowledge and expertise come from the marketing and processing of Non-Ferrous Metals across all primary metal groups, but he can also be found lending a hand with all recycled materials, from scrap iron and scrap paper to pre- and post-consumer plastic. Joel brings his multi-tiered management capabilities of marketing, operational and systems management to our Executive Team to help set foundation, structure and culture for growth.

KYLE HAULOTTE

Kyle Haulotte joined Scrap Management Industries in April of 2023. A resident of Missouri himself, Kyle attended Missouri State University in Springfield, MO where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Immediately following graduation, he obtained his CPA license and joined the workforce.

Kyle began his career as an assurance professional with Arthur Andersen where he led engagement teams within the manufacturing, insurance, and real estate industries. Kyle served as Chief Accounting Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Board Member of a $700+ million finished vehicle logistics provider and SEC Registrant where he led its 200+ employee corporate office, managed all financial aspects of the Company, shared executive responsibility for acquisitions selection and integration, managed its capital development, investor relations and strategic planning and execution.

Now with 25+ years of experience in finance and accounting, Kyle has joined our SMI Executive Team to assist with our accounting, financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, risk assessment and mitigation, corporate governance and is our Strategic Manager of Organizational Financial Performance. In the years to come, Kyle plans to optimize performance through process and systems design so that as our number of customers continues to grow, we grow with them.
